City of Orange Bans Red Light Cameras

City of Orange Passes Ordinance to Ban Red Light Cameras

Orange County Traffic Ticket Lawyer

The City of Orange passed an ordinance that would ban any use of red light cameras that would ticket drivers.  The city had not used red light cameras before, but this ordinance would mean that no future red light cameras would be installed under the current city council.

This doesn’t preclude future councilmembers to change the law, but it would be more difficult for any changes now that this ordinance is in place.

The usefulness of red light cameras are debatable.  People in favor of red light tickets will say it increases safety.  However, it can be argued that it does not increase safety as it increases rear end accidents from extra cautious drivers.

The city of Westminster will also propose a red light camera ban in the November 2012 ballot.
