Who Needs to Pay Los Angeles Red Light Camera Tickets

Los Angeles Red Light Camera Tickets – Who Needs to Pay

Los Angeles Traffic Ticket Lawyer

I previously wrote about Los Angeles City Council unanimously voted to start phasing out the red light camera tickets.  This blog will describe who needs to pay and who does not need to pay the red light camera tickets.

The LA City Council realized it was difficult to enforce this program and they were wasting money.  The courts have discretion over how they enforce unpaid tickets.  The courts have decided not to notify the DMV.  This means there will be no consequences to your driver’s license or registration renewals.

The court can send your ticket to a collections agency, but failing to pay that will not show up on a credit report.

This policy applies to all of Los Angeles County since it is under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

An exception to this is that if you already went to court or already started paying, you cannot just ignore the payments.  Therefore your best bet is to ignore the red light camera ticket if you received it in Los Angeles County.

If you received a traffic ticket, it is important to consult with an experienced Los Angeles traffic ticket attorney.  At the Law Offices of Nam Q.
