Westminster DUI Emergency Response Costs Can be Up to $12,000

30 September 2013

The Westminster City Council voted to update an existing city ordinance that requires a person convicted of a DUI to pay for emergency response costs.  The updated ordinance increases a max fee of $1,500.00 to $12,000.00 if a DUI driver causes an accident.

The fees will cover emergency services and salaries of personnel.  The city says the purpose of this updated law is to discourage drunk driving, which really means they need additional sources for the city to receive money.

Most people won’t even know about having to pay for emergency response fees.  This will only give a person charged with DUI more reason to fight their case.
